Safemo cameras let you capture clear recordings and view livestreams even in low-light or completely dark environments. This guide explains how night vision works, how to turn it on and adjust it in the app, and provides tips for getting the best results in different lighting conditions.
How Night Vision Works
Safemo cameras use infrared light and white light to provide clear night vision, supporting up to 4K resolution in low-light conditions.
- Black & White Night Vision: Uses infrared light to deliver clear black-and-white images.
- Color Night Vision: Turns on the white light for full-color images.
Note: You may hear a faint "click" when the IR-CUT engages or the white light turns on. This is normal and does not affect camera performance.
How to Adjust Light Sensitivity Level
The light sensitivity level determines how easily the camera switches to night vision in darker environments:
- Higher level: Night vision activates sooner as light decreases.
- Lower level: Night vision only activates in completely dark environments.
To adjust the light sensitivity level, please follow these steps:
- Open the Safemo app and go to the Home page.
- Tap the camera settings gear icon.
- Tap Video.
- Enable Auto Night Vision.
- Set Light Sensitivity Level to High / Medium / Low.
How to Enable Night Vision
To ensure your camera records properly at night, follow these steps to enable night vision:
- Open the Safemo app and go to the Home page.
- Tap the camera settings gear icon.
- Tap Video.
- Enable Auto Night Vision.
- Set Mode to Black & White / Color.
Note: During live viewing, the camera automatically switches to black-and-white night vision when lighting is low. To manually enable color night vision, tap the white light icon at the bottom of the live view screen.
How to Ensure the Best Night Vision Performance
- Avoid tight spaces: Do not install the camera in tight areas (for example, inside a birdhouse), as limited space can cause infrared reflection and reduce night vision performance.
- Keep the lens clean: Regularly wipe the lens to remove dust, smudges, or condensation that may reduce image clarity.
Note: Night vision quality depends on the camera's overall image quality. For more details on improving footage, please check this guide: Livestream, Recording & Snapshot Quality Guide.
