This article explains what each security mode does, how to switch between them, and how to adjust your devices so your security system works the way you need.
What is Security Mode
Security Mode in the Safemo app allows you to control how your home security system behaves based on your current situation. There are three main security modes:
-
Home Mode: This mode is designed for when you are at home. Your devices can monitor activity without triggering alarms. For example, cameras may send notifications without activating alarm sounds or flashing lights.
-
Away Mode: This mode is designed for when you are away from home. Your security system is fully armed, meaning any detected motion will both notify you and trigger alarms as configured.
-
Disarmed Mode: In this mode, your security system is turned off. Devices will not send notifications or trigger alarms. This mode is useful when you're at home and not worried about security threats. When you first set up your devices in the Safemo app, Disarmed Mode is on by default so you can adjust settings before activating security features.
Note: This feature requires the Safemo app version 1.1.0 or later and the latest device firmware. Make sure both your app and firmware are up to date to use all Security Mode features.
How to Switch Security Modes
There are two ways to switch Security Modes: through the Safemo app or directly on the Smart Hub.
Switching Modes in the Safemo App
-
Open the Safemo app.
-
Go to the Home page.
-
Select Away, Home, or Disarmed at the top of the camera card.
Note: Security Modes apply to a single Smart Hub and its paired cameras. If you have multiple Hubs, you'll need to switch and configure each Smart Hub separately in the Safemo app.
Switching Modes on the Smart Hub
You can also change modes directly on the Smart Hub by pressing the physical button on top. The Smart Hub's light indicators show the current mode:
-
Away Mode: Rapid red flashing.
-
Home Mode: Three slow red flashes.
-
Disarmed Mode: Three slow blue flashes.
-
No Active Mode: No light.
Note: No matter which method you use to switch modes, the Smart Hub will announce the selected mode with a voice prompt such as "Home mode" or "Away mode".
How to Customize Device Behavior for Each Security Mode
There are two ways to customize how your devices behave in each mode:
From the Home Page
-
Open the Safemo app.
-
Go to the Home page.
-
Tap the arrow next to the mode to adjust its settings.
From the Security Modes Menu
-
Open the Safemo app.
-
Go to the Account page.
-
Tap Security Modes.
-
Tap the arrow next to the device to open the Security Modes menu.
-
Select the mode you want to customize.
Note: Each camera can be customized separately in every mode. You can choose whether it sends notifications, triggers alarms, or activates lights. For example, in Home Mode, you might set Camera 1 to send notifications and trigger alarms, while Camera 2 only sends notifications.
Why Security Mode May Not Work After Setup
If you notice that your Security Mode settings are not taking effect, it may be due to one of the following reasons:
The camera has motion detection turned off or is in sleep mode
If a camera's Motion Detection is turned off, or if the camera is in Sleep Mode, you will not be able to configure its behavior within the Security Mode settings.
Device Settings Override Mode Settings
Each device also has its own settings page where you can adjust behavior independently. When a Security Mode is active, the device's behavior will follow the rules defined in that mode. However, if you manually change a device's settings on its own settings page and those changes conflict with the active mode, the device will automatically exit that mode.
Example: If Home Mode is active, the default configuration may be:
-
When motion is detected, the Smart Hub does not trigger sound or light alarms. (Alarm flash/light off)
-
The camera also does not trigger sound or light alarms. (Alarm flash/light off)
If you go into the camera or Smart Hub settings and turn on the alarm flash or light, the device will exit Home Mode. When this happens:
-
None of the three modes (Away, Home, Disarmed) will remain active.
-
The Hub's indicator light will turn off, showing that no Security Mode is currently selected.
Note: For best results, make changes in the Security Mode settings rather than adjusting each device separately. This helps your system run smoothly without conflicts.
