This guide walks you through the process of linking your Safemo cameras with Amazon Alexa so you can manage your devices easily using voice commands. You'll find step-by-step instructions for setup, usage, and troubleshooting to ensure smooth integration.
How to Prepare Before Getting Started?
To ensure a smooth setup and reliable connection between Safemo and Alexa, please make sure of the following before linking:
- Your Safemo camera is connected properly
Make sure the camera you plan to use with Alexa is already set up in the Safemo app.
- The Alexa app is installed and logged in
Ensure you've installed the Amazon Alexa app on your phone and signed in to your account.
- Your login credentials are ready
Have your Safemo and Alexa account information ready. Confirm that login details are correct.
- Stable internet connection
A strong and stable network connection helps avoid delays or disconnections when using Alexa voice control.
- Each camera has a unique name
Give each camera a distinct, easy-to-pronounce name to avoid confusion when using voice commands.
How to link Alexa?
We support two linking methods. We recommend the first method for best results:
Link via Safemo App (Recommended)
-
Open the Safemo app and go to the Account page.
-
Tap Works with Alexa to go to the Link with Alexa page.
-
Tap Link to go to the Account Linking page.
-
Tap LINK again. You will be redirected to the Amazon Alexa app.
-
In the Amazon Alexa app, confirm the connection by tapping Link on the Safemo with Alexa page.
-
Once the accounts are successfully linked, you'll be automatically redirected back to the Safemo app.
Note: If the Amazon Alexa app is not installed, tapping Link on the Link with Alexa page will open a browser where you can log in with your Alexa account to complete the setup.
Link via Amazon Alexa App
-
Open the Amazon Alexa app and go to the More page.
- Select Skills & Games from the list.
- Tap the search icon and enter Safemo in the search bar.

-
Tap Allow to authorize the connection. You will then be redirected back to the Amazon Alexa app, where you'll see the message Safemo has been successfully linked.
-
Follow the on-screen instructions in the Amazon Alexa app. Once setup is complete, you'll see the message Device is set up and ready to use. Tap Done to finish the process.
Note: If the Safemo app is not installed, the linking process will redirect you to a web page. There, sign in with your Safemo account to complete the setup.
How to Unlink Alexa?
You can unlink Alexa either from the Safemo app or the Amazon Alexa app. Both methods will disconnect your Safemo account from Alexa.
Unlink via Safemo App

How to Use Alexa Commands?
Alexa lets you watch live stream from your Safemo cameras and get notified when motion is detected—all with simple voice commands.
- View Live Stream
Once linked, you can use these voice commands to watch your camera's live stream on an Alexa-enabled display:
- Alexa, show me [Safemo camera name].
- Alexa, talk to [Safemo camera name].
To stop livestreaming:
- Alexa, stop.
- Alexa, go home.
Note: You can rename your camera in the Safemo app at any time. Any changes you make—such as renaming a device or adding a new one—will automatically sync with Alexa.
- Get Motion Alerts
When Motion Announcements are enabled in the Amazon Alexa app, your Safemo camera will automatically send notifications to your Alexa devices whenever it detects motion.
Troubleshooting
Here's a quick guide to help troubleshoot common issues you may encounter when using Safemo with Alexa.
-
Why can't Alexa find my camera after linking?
- Confirm your camera is set up in the Safemo app.
- Avoid using special characters or long names.
-
Why does my camera show as "Offline" in Alexa?
- Make sure the camera is powered on.
- Check your internet connection.
- Restart the camera and/or Hub if needed.
-
Why can't Alexa control my camera?
- Confirm your Alexa device has internet access.
- Use the correct wake word: "Alexa, show me..." etc.
- Give each camera a unique name.
- Try repeating your request in a clear voice.
- Ensure both the Alexa app and Safemo app are updated.
- Why can't I view the livestream on Alexa-enabled displays?
If your Safemo camera's live stream doesn't load properly on an Alexa-enabled display, the issue may be related to the video encoding format.
Safemo supports two formats:
- AVC (H.264): Offers wider compatibility with most devices but consumes more bandwidth.
- HEVC (H.265): Delivers better video quality at lower bitrates but may not be fully supported by some Alexa devices.
To improve compatibility and make sure the live stream load properly, switch to AVC in the Safemo app:
Home page > camera settings gear icon > Video > Video Encoding > Select Enable AVC.
