This feature requires Safemo app version 1.1.0 or higher and the latest device firmware to function properly. Make sure your app and firmware are up to date to access all the features of Security Modes.
What is Security Mode?
Security Mode is a feature in your Safemo app that allows you to control how your home security system behaves depending on your current situation. There are three main Security Modes available:
-
Home Mode: This mode is intended for when you are at home. In this mode, your devices are configured to monitor activities without triggering alarms. For example, your cameras might be set to send you notifications without activating the alarm system.
-
Away Mode: This mode is for when you are away from home. In this mode, your security system is fully activated. If any movement is detected, the system will both notify you and trigger alarms as configured.
-
Disarmed Mode: In this mode, your security system is effectively turned off. This is useful when you do not need to monitor your property, such as when you're at home and not worried about security threats. Devices will not send alerts or trigger alarms in this mode. After first binding your devices to the Safemo app, Disarmed Mode will be enabled by default to allow you to customize settings before activating security features.
How to Switch Modes and Customize Device Settings in the App?
To switch between different Security Modes and customize the behavior of your devices for each mode, follow these steps:
Switching Modes:
- Open the Safemo app
- On the homepage, you will see the option to switch between Home, Away, and Disarmed modes. Simply tap the mode you wish to activate.
Note: Security Modes control the behavior of a single Hub and the cameras paired with that Hub. If you have multiple Hubs, you will need to switch modes and configure settings separately for each Hub. The mode settings within the app will only display the devices (Hub and paired cameras) associated with the selected Hub.
Customizing Device Behaviors for Each Mode:
- Open the Safemo app and go to your account by tapping on the account icon at the bottom of the screen.
- Navigate to the "Security Modes" section where you can see Home, Away, and Disarmed modes.
- Select the mode you wish to customize (e.g., Home).
- From here, you can adjust how each of your cameras behaves under this mode. For example, in Home Mode, you might set Camera 1 to send notifications and trigger alarms, while Camera 2 only sends notifications without triggering alarms.
Note:
- Each camera can be individually customized within each mode, allowing you to control whether it sends notifications, triggers alarms, or activates lights.
- If a camera's "Motion detection" is turned off, or if the camera is in "Sleep mode," you will not be able to configure its behavior within the Security Mode settings.
Device Settings vs. Mode Settings:
- Each device also has its own settings page where you can adjust its behavior independently. When a mode is active, the device's settings will match the settings defined in that mode. However, if you change a device's settings directly on its settings page to something different from what's defined in the currently active mode, the device will automatically exit that mode. Suppose Home mode is currently active, and under this mode, the default behavior for your devices is as follows:
- When motion is detected by a camera, the Hub will not trigger sound or light alarms (Alarm flash/light off).
- The camera itself will also not trigger sound or light alarms (Alarm flash/light off).
- If you go into the settings for either the Hub or the camera and turn on the Alarm flash or light, this will cause the device to exit Home mode. As a result, none of the three modes (Home, Away, Disarmed) will be active, and the Hub's light will turn off to indicate that no mode is currently selected.
When a device exits a mode:
- None of the three modes (Home, Away, Disarmed) will be selected in the app.
- The Hub's light will turn off, indicating that no mode is currently active.
How to Switch Modes Using the Hub and Light Indicator Meanings
In addition to switching modes through the app, you can also change Security Modes directly on your Hub using the physical button located on the top of the device. Here's how the Hub's light indicators correspond to each mode:
- Away Mode: The Hub's light will flash red rapidly.
- Home Mode: The Hub's light will flash red three times at regular intervals.
- Disarmed Mode: The Hub's light will flash blue three times at regular intervals.
- No active mode: There will be no light indicators on the Hub.
Note: When you switch modes either via the app or directly on the Hub, the Hub will announce the selected mode through a voice prompt (e.g., "Home mode" or "Away mode").
